090627 - Taiwan - Day 16

Wow, I didn't realize how behind I was on photos. I'm still behind on my LJ as well because I have a few days of photos I still haven't uploaded...

In any case, I met up with my grandma's friend's family and we visited Taipei 101. I briefly visited the area on Day 3, but didn't actually go in. People will frequently bring their dogs out to walk and eat at restaurants with them, with a chair just for the dog. One particular family also had a pet boar on a leash. I didn't take a photo though :(

We went around quite a bit before I actually took photos, which was close to dinner time. They had a lot of signs for "no photography" so any shots inside are pretty quickly taken. 101 consists of a lot of restaurants and businesses ("Taipei World Trade Center), but there were also a couple floors that were just stores. Of course, this area was a bit more expensive...

Day 13 was very interesting but I decided against taking photos since a number of my friends don't eat meat, etc. So I didn't want to gross people out. The market is very interesting though! As much as people might see it as unsanitary, it's actually much better since everything is EXTREMELY fresh.

In other news, for Day 14, we went to Ximending! You can see more information in the wiki article. But it was very interesting, I'd like to go again sometime :3 Lots of food in this post~!

The view from the parking garage! This is the block where my mother's side lived a long time ago.
Also, this place is known as a restaurant with everything bathroom themed!

Had lots of delicious food this day, though I neglected to take photos of lunch. Dessert was very interesting! And rather welcome, since Taiwan weather is extremely hot~

01.
A dessert place! It was for all types of frozen, iced Taiwanese desserts. I think the place was called "Meet Fresh"?

A few photos since this day wasn't very eventful! There are more photos of the next day but it's mostly for the purpose of purchasing wigs. I'll post it up tomorrow since I'm sure I've spammed people enough.

01.
Cute shoes I bought from Feng Jia! Took me forever to find my size though -_-

02.
Some kind of fruit drink my grandma made me. Was sweet and very delicious.

Father's Day in the US and also my grandpa's birthday :3 We went out for lunch at this good seafood place (although it was slightly more expensive than other places, I think). Not putting up photos of family for privacy reasons, but I'll put up photos of food! OMNOMNOM.

There obviously was a lot more but I didn't take photos of everything.

01.
Sashimi! The yellow was flying fish, I think.

Sorry, I'm days behind on updating. Entries are backdated.

Went to the Shilin Night Market, the most well known one in Taiwan. I actually like Feng Jia a little better. Feng Jia has a lot more small food carts populated along the walkway and has more shopping stores. Shilin seems a lot smaller by comparison (probably because Feng Jia is newer) and has more food and games. A lot of the games are pretty similar as well.

Jiantan Metro Station, right across from the Shilin Night Market.

Sorry for the late update. Somewhat backdated, I've been doing a lot of things and am pretty tired regarding photos. More photos in my LJ as usual, I leave out a number of them for family / younger kids, etc reasons.

For this day, we visited Chung Tai Monastery / Museum / School / Temple / etc in the morning, and went to Feng Jia Night Market at night.

01.
Chung Tai Chan Monastery (brochure name) had a lot of interesting things, but we only visited a small area...

My uncle drove us to Tai Zhong today. (My pinyin may be off.) We met up with more family and had a huge lunch. Bubble tea is also incredibly cheap here! The most expensive ones are 25NT and apparently regularly they are 15NT... which is less than half a dollar! NUTS.

01.
Delicious mochi.

TONS of photos ahead. Cut down from my LJ post but that's because I have like, 40 photos there. Leaving out a few because quite frankly, I'm tired. (It's nearly 2AM here.)

Today we met up with family friends and spent the day in Danshui. The area is rather nice and close to the sea. Many couples like to go there and spend the day together.

01.
WINDOWS. YES I KNOW. I still like it.

Sorry about lack of posting lately. The last two days were pretty uneventful so I didn't feel like updating. I mostly took photos of food but again most of them will be on my LJ.

01.
The lychee here are big, fleshy and delicious.

02.
Bubble teaaa :D 30NT (33NT=1USD)
